January — the month that holds the magic for new beginnings. I honestly feel like January just started yesterday, but here we are at the end.
There are so many things that I became obsessed with this month, but here are five notable favorites I would like to share:
Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty
“Life isn’t a collection of unrelated events, it’s a narrative that stretches into the past and the future.”
Jay Shetty
I mentioned Jay Shetty’s podcast “On Purpose” in my last monthly obsessions post, and that obsession only grew when I purchased his book Think like a Monk.
This book is packed with good gems and exercises that transformed the way I think in a matter of days.
Some of my favorite chapters included “Identity”, “purpose”, “ego”, and “gratitude”.
Jay Shetty truly has a way with words and his life’s story inspires me to live with purpose.
CBD vegan caramels from Seventh Hill
A few weeks ago I received a message from this small business named Seventh Hill. I was offered an amazing opportunity to collaborate with them by trying out their products and making content for their business.
Seventh Hill is a family-run business in Ashland, Oregon that produces and distributes cannabidiols through oils, edibles, teas, and more from their very own hemp farm (isn’t that so cool?).
One of my favorites from their products is their vegan caramel named “Unwind”. It definitely did its job my first time trying it by easing me into a relaxed state and eventually putting me to sleep. Let’s just say I had the best sleep of my life that night.
Sadhguru
I can’t remember how I stumbled upon this majestic soul, but when I did I never looked back.
Sadhguru is an indian mystic, yogi and guru who shares thoughts on enlightenment, life, and personal growth. I mainly consume his content on his youtube channel or through interviews he’s had on podcasts such as Lewis Howes and Impact Theory.
7PM night routine (inspired by Robin Sharma)
So for the past year, I’ve been praising Robin Sharma’s book The 5 a.m. Club for many reasons. One being, it completely transformed my life; and second, it gave me the tools I needed to be more self-disciplined.
I would say I’ve mastered the 5 a.m. routine Robin Sharma outlines in his book; the only thing I haven’t mastered however, is his evening routine outline.
If his 5 a.m. morning routine changed my life, why not give the evening routine a go? So, that’s what I’ve been doing for these past few weeks and I can safely say Robin Sharma is a GENIUS.
“Energy” playlist
I am a huge believer in the philosophy that what you consume on a day to day basis affects you in many ways. Whether that be people you follow on social media, television shows, books, music, etc.
After hearing great leaders and thinkers continuously enforce this idea, I decided to intentionally choose what I consume starting with the one thing I consume all day, everyday — music.
I created a playlist that has been putting me in a good mood, and I will link it down below to extend the good vibes to you!
So I guess this is goodbye January 2021.
