Manifestation has become such a buzz term in today’s culture.
There are numerous articles, podcasts, books, and other resources on the topic; this is a good thing considering that I am a believer in the power of manifestation. However, the saturation of this topic leaves room for many things to get lost in translation.
For one thing, the notions and practices associated with manifestation are simple, yet we’ve somehow complicated them as more and more people proclaim themselves as gurus. Oftentimes I come across people who are fed up with the whole process, saying that it doesn’t work because what they want hasn’t come to pass. Subsequently, they begin blaming themselves, buying into the idea that they somehow “did it wrong” or must have missed a step.
To set the record straight, there is no “wrong” way to manifest things into your life. To manifest simply means taking ideas, visions, and desires and bringing them forth into the physical realm. This comes about by first getting clear on one’s intentions followed by taking inspired action, surrendering, and being patient enough to allow the universe to orchestrate the needed events to propel one toward their desires.
Alongside this simple manifestation process are a set of principles that support it, which are made plain in Deepak Chopra’s The 7 Spiritual Laws of Success. Ever since starting my journey with intentional living, I’ve found the simplicity of Chopra’s approach with manifestation refreshing. So, if you’re tired of how complicated manifestation has become, try returning back to manifestation basics. You can start with Chopra’s 7 spiritual laws of success:
The 7 Spiritual Laws of Success
The Law of Pure Potentiality
The law of pure potentiality simply states that there exists a realm with limitless possibilities and that we, as spiritual beings, have access to this realm.
This principle of manifestation is activated by way of silence. In other words, when we allow ourselves to sit quietly without any noise or distractions. Silence is essential to connecting to the realm of pure potentiality because silence is our natural state as spiritual beings.
From a place of devoted silence, we can take our intentions and plant them in the fertile ground of pure potentiality, home to limitless possibilities.
The Law of Giving
We’ve all heard of the saying “what you reap, you will sow.” In the law of giving, the same holds true. If we want to receive the manifestations of our intentions, we have to enter the energy of giving.
The law of giving doesn’t mean just the giving of money or wealth; it can also be an exchange of kind words or silent well wishes to others.
What’s important is your intention behind giving. If your sole purpose of giving is for selfish gain, the law of giving (i.e. the law of circulating the energy of abundance, love, joy, and wealth) can’t be fully activated. So, give from a place of love, joy, and abundance to align with the law of giving.
The Law of Karma
The law of karma has been widely associated with negativity. It has been misunderstood as something that comes about to avenge wrongs that have happened.
Although this can be the case, karma also encompasses goodness. Karma essentially is the law of cause and effect, for every action there is a reaction. Therefore, the law of karma is the effects or consequences of our actions — both positive and negative.
So what does that mean for you and your manifestations? Similar to the law of giving, whatever energy you put out into the world is what you will get back. So if you want to attract positivity (and your desires) into your life, you have thoughts and actions that align with the energy of your desires.
The Law of Least Effort
When many people hear the law of least effort they immediately think of it as promoting laziness. However, that is not the case. Instead the law of least effort is practicing acceptance of what is while also refraining from trying to force situations as we think it should be.
From here we have a better foundation from which to take inspired action toward our desires, which is simply action in alignment with our intuition and intentions.
The Law of Intention and Desire
Inherent in all of us are unique desires, and in order to manifest these desires, we have to set forth intentions.
An important part of manifestation is becoming clear on your desires and intentions and writing them down, making them plain. Many people fall into the trap of not getting clear on what they truly want — oftentimes observing the desires of others and mistaking them for our own. This is why the law of intention and desire encourages you to access what is in alignment with your soul’s deepest desires and constructing intentions unique to you.
Once we do this, we’re able to confidently release our desires, knowing that they are aligned with our dharma (more on this later).
The Law of Detachment
I often like to use the analogy of planting a seed in the ground and anticipating its growth to talk about the law of detachment (and so does Deepak Chopra).
It’s easy to become attached to our intentions and their outcomes. As humans, we’re naturally inclined to want to control every aspect of our life. But with manifestation, we need to learn how to become comfortable with the opposite: surrender.
The law of detachment requires you to allow things to be as they are (kind of like the law of least effort), and have faith that things are working out in your favor — complements of the universe, God, or whatever higher power you believe in.
When we remain rigidly attached to the outcomes of our intentions, constantly trying to control situations and the timing of things, we dig up the seeds we’ve planted and disrupt their growth.
So, to practice the law of detachment, we have to leave the seeds alone and simply water them with inspired or aligned action.
The Law of Dharma
Dharma is Sanskrit for our calling or purpose. It holds the idea that each and everyone of us has unique skills and talents as well as distinct expressions of those skills and talents that can’t be replicated by anyone else.
Carrying this attitude into the spirit of manifestation is vital because it dampens the need to compare yourself to others. As they say, you can’t compare the sun to the moon, so why would you waste time trying to compare other people’s uniqueness to your own?
Once we align with our dharma or life purpose, we unlock doors and avenues that can’t be opened by anyone else. All we have to do is make the choice to follow the signs.
Everyone has the capability to manifest their desires and express their most authentic self. It isn’t complicated; all you need for this to happen is clarity, inspired action, and patience alongside knowledge of the 7 spiritual laws of success to guide you on your journey.
