This month was very transformational for me. Although February is shorter than the average month, it was jammed packed with new experiences, self-realizations and, of course, new obsessions.
As always, I have my top five obsessions for the month of February I would like to share:
Surfing
This semester for college, I decided to enroll in a surfing course with one of my best friend and it was probably one of the best decisions of my life.
I’m not saying that because knowing how to surf is straight up cool, but because it pushed me out of my comfort zone.
Within just a few class sessions, my confidence skyrocketed, I learned how resilient I could get, and I’ve experienced immense joy in learning a new skill.
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
Recently I’ve been on this spirituality growth journey and I’ve been reading the works of notable authors such as Deepak Chopra, Jay Shetty, and Paulo Coelho.
“The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz is one of those books that I can confidently say changed my life for the better.
In just 200 pages (138 to be exact), Ruiz taught me about self-imposed limitations, the damage ego causes, life illusions and more.
(if you haven’t read this book yet, add it to your list now!!).
Daily Doses of Inspiration
you can watch previous “daily doses” on my instagram or tiktok @aaliyahinspired
Back in October, I started recording videos of myself pouring my morning coffee and sharing quotes or lessons I’ve been learning through interviews, books and podcasts.
Eventually I gave these videos the title “Daily Dose of Inspiration”.
Up until now, I’ve really enjoyed sharing life-changing gems from books and interviews.
Meditation
Daily meditation has become a part of my routine and I don’t know how I went so long without this practice.
I’m still far from perfect in this area, but I’m way more consistent now because I see and feel the changes meditation has.
The Mind, Explained on Netflix
This limited series is so intriguing. With only five episodes, it probably taught me more than an actual academic course.
My favorite episodes from this series included “Mindfulness”, “Dreams” and “Memory”.
I highly recommend this series if you’re curious about certain aspects of the mind.
In hindsight, this month was a very special one for me. I can’t wait to see what magic March holds.
Until then… goodbye my friends.
